Obi, Kwankwaso Join NDC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, don officially join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), as political realignment ahead of 2027 elections gather momentum.

The two politicians join the party on Sunday night during welcome event wey hold for Abuja residence of former Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson. Dem arrive around 5 p.m. and hold meeting with Dickson and other NDC leaders, including National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, before dem enter closed-door session wey end shortly before 7 p.m.

After the meeting, Dickson describe Obi and Kwankwaso as “very suitable suitors” for the party. Kwankwaso call on Nigerians to join NDC, urge those wey wan contest under the party to register quickly ahead of submission of party register on May 6.

Obi, on him part, highlight him record and Kwankwaso own as former governors of Anambra and Kano states, especially in areas of education and human development. E promise say dem go do more if given opportunity to serve for national level.

At the end of the event, both leaders receive their NDC membership cards, as indications show say dem fit emerge as the party presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2027 general elections.
