As dem dey launch the shuttles, Chairman of FAAN Board of Trustees, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, describe the initiative as major milestone for FAAN plan to modernise airport operations and align Nigeria aviation sector with global best practices.

“This vehicles go help both airside and landside logistics, staff movement and services, and e go strengthen passenger coordination and efficiency for the airport,” Ganduje talk.

Ganduje also explain say electric vehicles get strong environmental and operational benefits because dem cleaner, quieter and more energy efficient. E say dem go greatly reduce carbon emissions and FAAN environmental footprint.

E add say the initiative support global sustainability targets, including International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

“By embracing electric mobility, FAAN dey position Nigerian airports to remain competitive, responsible and ready for the future,” e add.

The former Kano State governor further talk say electric vehicles dey predictable and no dey cost much to maintain, and this go improve monitoring, coordination, compliance, accountability and overall service reliability.

According to am, all this go lead to more transparent, efficient and passenger-friendly airport services.

For her own side, FAAN Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, say the initiative show FAAN strong commitment to sustainable climate future by reducing carbon footprint and tackling climate change effects.

She say the electric vehicles go reduce dependence on fossil fuel, cut operating and maintenance costs, reduce harmful emissions and improve passenger travel experience.

“Dem no be just transport; dem represent cleaner air, quieter terminals and commitment to build sustainable infrastructure for Nigerian aviation,” she talk.

Kuku also describe the collaboration with private sector partners as example of innovation and progress.

“This partnership show wetin fit happen when public and private sectors come together with one vision,” she say.

“FAAN don always put passenger comfort, safety and smooth airport experience first, and today launch of our electric shuttle buses and cabs na another strong proof of that commitment to service and sustainable future,” she add.

Kuku also reveal say FAAN don get approval to deploy 100 Electric Vehicles (EVs) as airport shuttles for both Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Head of Fleet Operations for Possible Energy, Abimbola Gyer, disclose say the electric shuttle service go run daily from 7am to 7pm, and fare na ₦10,000 per passenger from the airport go city centre.
