ADC Crisis: Nigeria Supreme Court Go Hear Mark Appeal On April 14

Supreme Court of Nigeria go hear appeal on Tuesday, April 14, wey former Senate President David Mark file over leadership wahala for African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Mark, wey dey challenge eim removal as party National Chairman, dey ask court make e pause di execution of March 12 judgment wey Court of Appeal give.

 

According to hearing notice wey Supreme Court release for Abuja, di case -SC/CV/180/2026 - get Nafiu-Bala Gombe, ADC, Rauf Aregbesola, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Ralph Nwosu as respondents.

 

Di Supreme Court hearing go still happen di same time with another case wey dey Federal High Court for Abuja under Justice Emeka Nwite.

 

But lawyers wey dey follow matter talk say di lower court fit adjourn or step down di case to respect say Supreme Court get final authority.

 

By him lawyer, Mark dey ask court make e block INEC make dem no recognise any other person as ADC national leaders until dem finish eim appeal.

 

Eim also want make di court  stop any action wey fit change di  party current leadership structure.

 

On top that one, di former Senate President dey ask order wey go suspend all proceedings for di Federal High Court case until Supreme Court finish decision.

 

Mark legal team talk say di appeal get serious legal questions, and dem warn say if court no grant stay, di case fit become useless later.

 

Part of di matter come from Court of Appeal order wey talk say all parties must maintain status quo ante bellum.

 

Dem argue say Gombe use that order push INEC make dem withdraw recognition from di current ADC leadership.

 

Di  wahala increase after INEC on April 1 remove Mark and Aregbesola names from eim official portal as party National Chairman and National Secretary, to follow Court of Appeal ruling.

 

As response, Mark run go Federal High Court say make dem order INEC to restore their names and continue to recognise di current leadership until di matter clear.

 

Di legal battle start from case wey Nafiu-Bala Gombe, former ADC Deputy National Chairman, file, wey challenge how Mark and Aregbesola become party leaders.

 

Eim talk say their appointment no follow party constitution and Electoral Act.

 

Even though trial court first refuse interim order against Mark-led leadership, di matter don enter appeal level reach Supreme Court for final decision.
