Di fifth annual August meeting of Mbada Women Association of Wazobia FM, Onitsha, happun on Sunday, and dem use am take remind women make dem always play their role for society development.

Dis year edition happun for Shanahan Hall, Holy Trinity for Onitsha, with di theme “Women Wey Balance” wey focus on how to build women capacity.

One guest speaker for di event, Hon. Mimi Ifeoma Azikwe, wey be lawmaker wey dey represent Onitsha North Constituency I for Anambra State House of Assembly, talk about di wahala wey Nigerian women dey face. She call make dem increase empowerment so that society go friendly for women and nobody go dey left behind.

She advise women make dem use di opportunities wey dey around dem, remind dem say dem suppose build their own capacity and no just dey wait make husband or spouse do everything.

She still yarn say: “Every strong force for dis world na feminine being.” She add say scientists sabi di power of women, na why when you check hurricanes for Europe, dem dey give dem feminine names, wey dey show di power wey woman get—and how we gats use am.

Hon. Azikwe, wey be lawyer and cybersecurity analyst, encourage women make dem dey front for leadership matter, talk say decision-making no fit complete without women inside.

She yarn say: “If we no put body, nobody go give us chance. Di world dey change, and as woman, you gats change follow, ask yourself wetin you fit do to help your own life.”

Dr. Iwuoha Julian, specialist for Obstetrics and Gynecology, wey talk about women health, lament say maternal mortality still high. E emphasize say women need better access to sexual and reproductive health plus rights.

One panelist, Chiwendu Uba, wey be educationist, complain about di level of bullying among school pikin. She advise mothers make dem dey always give their children attention to sabi wetin dem dey face.

She talk say: “Always be friend with your pikin, make dem dey free with you. Na dat one go help you know wetin dem dey pass through. Listen to dem; sometimes their questions fit vex you, but still create time for dem.”

For e own side, Station Programme Manager, Moses Okonkwo, talk say di event na part of di brand effort to give women opportunities through empowerment and to address issues wey concern their well-being.

E yarn say: “Women na pillar of society, home builders. Their impact too strong to ignore. Na why we dey always host dis Mbada Women August Meeting every year, as community radio station. We wan highlight di challenges women dey face as di backbone of society. We believe say if women get proper sense of belonging, many things go begin correct for our community and society go better.”

Okonkwo still add say dis year theme, “Women Wey Balance”, dey focus on how to build capacity for women. Di program also give women across di state chance to connect, share ideas, learn about health, and even get marital guidance.
