President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian artistes for their outstanding achievements at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held in Lagos from January 7–11, 2026.

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian artistes for their outstanding achievements at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held in Lagos from January 7–11, 2026.

He hailed their success as proof of Nigeria’s growing influence in African music and the creative economy.

Top winners from Nigeria include:

  • Rema – Artiste of the Year and multiple awards

  • Burna Boy – Album of the Year

  • Shallipopi – Song of the Year and Best Collaboration

Other Nigerian stars honoured include Phyno, Qing Madi, Yemi Alade, Chella, and industry veterans Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye.

President Tinubu also praised Lagos State for hosting a world-class event, calling the city Africa’s creative and entertainment capital.

He reiterated his commitment to empowering youths and developing Nigeria’s creative sectors, noting their potential to create jobs and boost the economy.

AFRIMA 2026 welcomed over 1,200 artistes and industry leaders from 48 countries, celebrating Africa’s musical talent and concluding with a grand finale awarding top creatives gold-plated trophies.
