Lagos Task Force Don Gbab 668 Okada inside One-Week Raid

Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Task Force) don gbab 668 commercial motorcycles (okada) inside one-week operation raid wey dem do.

Task Force Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, talk on Sunday say di raid na to enforce ban wey Lagos State Government place on okada for highways and other roads wey dem do suppose dey.

Di operation wey start last Monday cover areas like Ishaga, Balogun Bus Stop (Iju-Ishaga Road), Ijegun Roundabout, Iyana-Iba, Iyana-Ishasi, Igbo-Elerin and Iyana-School. Task Force still storm hotspots like Volkswagen Bus Stop (Lagos-Badagry Expressway) and Kola Bus Stop (Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway).

Akerele explain say di areas get plenty complaints of criminals and hoodlums dey use okada do robbery, pickpocket and other crime, especially for night.

He confirm say Task Force meet resistance for Kola Bus Stop where hoodlums attack enforcement officials, but dem scatter di crowd with “minimal force.” No serious injury record, but seven suspects arrest.

Task Force boss warn okada riders wey still dey stubborn say all seized motorcycles go pass court process and later crush, according to Lagos law.

“Anybody wey no wan obey, go face law. Our work na to protect lives and property,” Akerele talk.

Di agency say dis enforcement na part of bigger campaign to reduce crime and make Lagos roads safe.
