LAGFERRY Don Carry 2.5 Million Passengers in 5 Years – Balogun

Lagos State Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) don talk say dem don transport over 2.5 million passengers inside last five years, as part of di state plan to expand water transportation.

Managing Director of LAGFERRY, Abdoulbaq Balogun, drop di figures on Saturday for di agency 2025 Strategic Management Retreat wey theme na “Advancing Water Transportation for a Sustainable Lagos.”

Balogun give credit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu support, remind say na di governor relaunch LAGFERRY for February 2020 with 12 boats (seven of dem na brand-new locally built vessels). By July 2021, Sanwo-Olu still add another seven boats to di fleet.

From February 2020 to June 2025, LAGFERRY achieve:

  • 2.5 million passengers carried

  • 27,337 trips completed (covering 745,851 km on waterways)

  • 31,272 hours of operation (equal to 1,303 days)

  • 923,120 trucks ferried with multipurpose barges

  • 300 jobs created

Looking future, Balogun say LAGFERRY go expand routes, digitalise services, and set up maintenance workshop. E also reveal plan to convert petrol boats to CNG or electric-powered vessels to cut emissions and promote greener transport.

“LAGFERRY don turn model for other water transport providers by setting industry standards,” Balogun talk.
