The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission talk say dem no ask for any new extension to keep former Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai for detention during court sitting wey happen on March 17, 2026.
For statement wey dem release, the commission talk say dem show for court to answer application wey El-Rufai file to challenge the renewal of him remand order wey court grant on March 5.
According to ICPC, their legal team don serve the defence with response, after that El-Rufai lawyer come ask for adjournment make dem fit reply.
Court later shift the case go March 31, 2026 for further hearing.
The commission explain say the first remand order give dem 14 days to keep the former governor for detention while dem dey investigate allegation of money laundering and abuse of office.
Dem add say when the 14 days expire, dem apply for another 14 days extension, and court approve am on March 5.
ICPC still talk say earlier application wey El-Rufai legal team file to cancel the first remand order, court throway am on March 9.
According to the commission, El-Rufai still dey lawful custody under the current remand order wey still dey valid.
Dem say all the steps wey dem take follow the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015, and na court wey get proper authority approve everything.
