House of Reps don bring one bill wey go stop public and civil servants to dey use private school and hospital.

The bill wey Rep. Amobi Ogah (LP–Abia) sponsor, show face for first reading during Tuesday plenary for House of Reps.

As e dey talk the matter, Ogah yarn say the bill na big turning point for Nigeria history.

E say the bill dey try stop public and civil servants, plus their immediate family, from dey use private school and hospital.

According to am, the aim na to remove conflict of interest, make Nigerians trust government again, and make our public institutions get respect.

"Before Nigeria get independence and become republic, our first leaders go government school:

Sir Ahmadu Bello go Sokoto Provincial School and Katsina Training College (wey dem dey call Barewa College now),
Nnamdi Azikiwe go Holy Trinity College and Christ Church School for Onitsha,
Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Alhaji Tafawa Balewa too follow the same line," na so he talk.

Ogah say the way government people today dey rush private school and hospital na bad thing for Nigeria development.

"E don become normal for public and civil servants to dey find private hospital and school for themselves and their family, and this thing dey kill our economy," he talk.

He come point out say even though Nigeria put N1.33 trillion for health care inside 2024 budget, the country still dey spend about N1.6 trillion — wey pass $1 billion — every year for medical treatment abroad.

Ogah still talk say Nigerians spend over $29.29 billion on medical waka go abroad during the eight years wey late President Muhammadu Buhari rule.

For education matter, he say Nigerians spend $38.17 million on foreign education from January to March 2024, and $218.87 million in 2023 alone.

"The time to talk true don reach. We no fit continue to spoil Nigerians mental state.

"If we fit comot fuel subsidy, we suppose fit also fix how public servants dey behave by passing this bill."

Ogah talk say the way people dey run private schools and hospitals don make our own government schools and clinics scatter — building don dey fall, and the standard don drop.

"Our public schools and hospitals don turn to shadow of wetin dem suppose be.

We need rebuild confidence for government own school and hospital so that Nigeria go get better name for the world."

He say e shameful when top government people go abroad go treat body and some no dey come back alive.

The bill, according to am, wan stop all this medical and education tourism wey public and civil servants dey do.

He beg Nigerians, especially the media, make dem support the bill and help build new national mindset wey go believe in local institutions.
