80 Passengers Don Escape Death, As Arik Plane Do Emergency Landing For Benin

Na small gbege happen on Wednesday when Arik Air Boeing 737-700 wey dey fly from Lagos go Port Harcourt hear loud bang for one engine.

The crew sharply divert the plane go Benin Airport as precaution. Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) later confirm say the engine suffer “significant damage.”

Arik spokesperson, Adebanjo Ola, talk say the aircraft dey descend to Port Harcourt when the bang happen for left engine. Crew no waste time, dem divert and land safe for Benin.

 

All 80 passengers plus crew disembark without injury. Airline don arrange transport make passengers reach their final destination. Dem also apologize, assure say safety still be number one priority.

NSIB Director of Public Affairs, Bimbo Oladeji, explain say unusual signs show for engine midair, so crew shut am down and follow safety procedure to land for nearest airport.

Investigation don start under international ICAO Annex 13 standard. Preliminary check show major damage to engine. Team dey go Benin to secure aircraft, collect evidence, interview crew and passengers, plus recover flight data and cockpit voice recorder.

NSIB say preliminary report go drop within 30 days, final report go come after full investigation.
