UK Go Begin Use e-Visa For Nigerian Travellers From February 25

Government of United Kingdom don announce say from February 25, 2026, Nigerians wey dey apply for UK visit visa go begin receive electronic visa (eVisa) instead of the physical visa sticker wey dem dey paste for passport.

For statement wey Onyinye Madu, Senior Press and Public Affairs Officer for the High Commission, sign, officials explain say the change na part of United Kingdom government bigger plan to move go fully digital immigration and border system.

The eVisa go be secure digital record of traveller UK immigration status wey dem fit access online through UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account.

High Commission talk say even though the normal visa application process like to fill online form and go visa application centre to give biometric data still remain the same, the only thing wey change na the format wey dem take dey issue the visa, wey now don turn digital.

“This change affect only the visa format,” the statement talk.

Gill Lever OBE, British Deputy High Commissioner for Abuja, describe the move as step to make travel process easier for Nigerians.

Lever talk say the digital system go improve security, reduce dependence on paper visa stickers, and make the whole process smoother for visitors, students and workers.

Officials still assure people wey get valid physical visa sticker say their visa still dey valid till e expire, and dem no need replace am just because of the new policy.

After dem approve visa, successful applicants must create free UKVI online account to fit access and manage their eVisa before dem travel.

The rollout of UK eVisa for Nigerian travellers join other digital travel measures, as the British government continue effort to modernise and streamline their immigration system.
