He talk say the move to release the document na because of the wrong narrative some people dey push about his involvement.

According to Obi, the whole idea of that taskforce no be political appointment, but a response to the serious port wahala wey businessmen and importers dey face that time. He explain say him and other stakeholders meet with Abacha as concerned Nigerians, not politicians, because the delays for clearing goods for port dey affect business, traders, and the entire economy.

“As I stated during my interview at the weekend and have consistently maintained, I had never met General Sani Abacha before that encounter,” Obi write.

“Our meeting with him was borne out of collective concern as traders and importers over the prolonged delays in clearing goods at the ports. We approached him not as political actors, but as concerned citizens seeking pragmatic solutions.”

Obi insist say the engagement na purely civic and driven by the need to fix the logistics problem wey dey kill trade and importation at that time. He say the letter wey he release now na to clear the air and set the records straight.

“This clarification is offered in the interest of truth, to reaffirm that our actions were driven solely by a sense of civic duty and not political ambition,” he add.

Even though he no expect say the document go stop all the critics, Obi say he still release am because of transparency and posterity, make Nigerians fit judge am by truth and not rumours.

“I don't expect this copious evidence to bury this Abacha case because the mischief makers have ulterior motives,” he talk. “But it's being placed in the public space for posterity and in line with my transparency pledge to Nigerians.”

This clarification dey come as more politicians dey face fresh questions about their role during Nigeria military regimes, especially as the country dey warm up for the 2027 general elections. Obi say he go always stand for openness, accountability, and truth, no matter how people twist the story.
