Dis one bin dey one statement wey di Commissioner for environment and water resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab release on Sunday for Lagos.
Wahab tok say dem take dis decision becos of di wahala wey single-use plastics especially di ones wey no fit decay(styrofoam) dey cause to di environment.
According to am, most gutters for Lagos state, na dis styrofoam dey block am as e full everywhere even as dem dey clean, e still plenty full everywhere.
Mr. Wahab still tok say of all di doti wey full major roads and markets wey Lagos State Waste Management Authority(LAWMA)dey face every day, say na dis styrofoams na plenty pass.
Di commissioner still add say di state government no go siddon dey look make as Lagos big reach, make dis kind badness dey spoil di environment.
Wahab don give LAWMA and KIA instructions make dem start work with dis ban.
He still don give two join bodis instructions make dem march scatter any company wey dey produce and distribute anything wey get dis styrofoam, so dem no go dey distribute am again.
He dey advise pipo wey be producers, distributors and users of dis styrofoam packs(takeaway packs) to take di ban seriously and find anoda way or na big fines and oda punishment, go reach to close dia office or shop.
Wahab don draw ear dey warn say dem fit make dem pay for di clean up of di styrofoam every day from road and markets, and di moni dey run enta millions of naira.
“If government no do something, di wahala wey dey follow climate change and doti like flooding and diseases like cholera go finish di state,” Wahab said.
He come dey tell pipo we dey live for Lagos say make dem stop to dey use styrofoam packs and plastics wey de dey use one time, say make dem find anoda alternative to keep dia food and drinks.
