President Bola Ahmed Tinubu don approve the resignation of Gbenga Komolafe, wey be Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and Engineer Farouk Ahmed, CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, talk this one for statement wey come out on Wednesday. E say President don already write Senate make dem fast-track approval of the new people wey go replace dem.
According to the statement, Tinubu don nominate Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan to take over from Komolafe for NUPRC, while Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed go replace Farouk Ahmed for NMDPRA.
Onanuga quote say:
“The President don ask Senate make dem approve the nomination of two new chief executives for NMDPRA and NUPRC.”
Komolafe and Ahmed na former President Muhammadu Buhari appoint dem for 2021 after Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) create the two regulatory bodies.
Before dem appoint am, Komolafe don work for NNPC as Group General Manager, Special Duties, and also serve as Executive Director (Commercial) for PPMC. E still work as General Manager, Operations for both PEF and PPPRA.
For Farouk Ahmed side, im resignation come after public allegation of corruption wey Aliko Dangote raise against am, especially over refinery and fuel matter. But Presidency talk say both men resign by themselves.
About the new nominees, Presidency describe dem as experienced professionals wey sabi oil and gas work well-well.
Eyesan, wey study Economics for University of Benin, spend almost 33 years for NNPC and im subsidiaries. She retire for 2024 as Executive Vice President, Upstream, and before that she be Group General Manager, Corporate Planning and Strategy between 2019 and 2023.
Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed, wey born 1957 for Gombe State, study Chemical Engineering for Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Recently, e serve as independent non-executive director for Seplat Energy.
E don also be Managing Director for Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company and Nigerian Gas Company, plus Group Executive Director and COO, Gas and Power. E play strong role for policies like Gas Masterplan, Gas Network Code, and Petroleum Industry Act.
Engineer Mohammed also join hand for big gas projects like Escravos–Lagos Pipeline Expansion and Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline.
