ADC Wahala: Supreme Court Support David Mark Leadership, Cancel ‘Status Quo’ Order

The leadership war wey dey rock the African Democratic Congress (ADC) don take new turn today as the Supreme Court blow whistle for Senator David Mark side. The apex court don commot the "status quo ante bellum" order wey the Court of Appeal bin give before.

Before now, the Court of Appeal bin tell all the parties say make dem "maintain status quo ante bellum"—meaning make dem go back to how things be before the fight start. Because of that order, INEC bin stop to recognize David Mark and him team as the leaders of ADC.

Mark and him lawyers, wey no happy with the matter, carry the case go Supreme Court. Today, the Supreme Court judges gree say make dem commot that order. This mean say the "handcuff" wey the Appeal Court put for Mark leadership don fall off.

The whole wahala start when one Nafiu Gombe (former Deputy National Chairman) drag David Mark go Federal High Court, Abuja. He talk say the way Mark and him team take emerge as leaders no follow the party constitution and Electoral Act.

When the matter reach Court of Appeal, the judges there say the case must go back to the High Court for proper trial, and that na when dem give the "status quo" order wey make INEC de-recognize Mark.

With this new Supreme Court ruling:

  • Leadership Restored: E be like say David Mark-led faction don get their "breath" back as the order wey bin dey disturb dem don kpai.

  • INEC Levels: Now wey the Supreme Court don vacate the order, INEC go need to check their books again to see how dem go recognize the leadership as the party dey prepare for 2027.

  • Trial Continues: Even though the Supreme Court don commot the "status quo" order, the main case about who be the "authentic" leader still dey ground for the lower court to settle.
