Dem bring the victims back to Naija with help from civil society partners for South Asia, Eden (Myanmar), British Government, and Nigerian Embassy for Bangkok.
NAPTIP yarn say dem deceive the victims with scholarship and better job promise, but when dem reach, dem force dem to do online scam like love scam, crypto fraud, and fake investment business for Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.
Director-General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello, call am “new disturbing dimension” for human trafficking. She talk say traffickers dey target sharp Nigerian youths wey sabi computer and IT, promise dem scholarship and work, but na scam training dem go end up with.
Victims talk say dem train dem for different scam style, even put some for language school to act as translator and customer care agent to defraud people for US, UK, Ethiopia, and Canada. Dem dey live for hostel, get gadgets, but dem dey under strict watch and must meet daily fraud target. Anybody wey no gree, dem punish am well.
Bello talk say NAPTIP don join hand with local and international partners to scatter the trafficking network and catch the leaders. She thank international partners wey help with rescue and emergency travel papers.
