Naija celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, don break another record again – this time around na with the dish wey dey cause fight steady between Nigeria and Ghana: jollof rice.
Last Friday for Victoria Island, Lagos, Hilda team up with food brand Gino Nigeria cook the largest ever serving of Nigerian style jollof rice – 8,780kg (19,356lb). Di kain pot wey she use big sotey e resemble small swimming pool.
Thousands gather for the event, enjoy performance and cheer as di aroma full ground. People even begin shout “Hilda, we want jollof!” as dem wait to chop.
Inside di record pot, Hilda load am with:

4,000kg of basmati rice

164kg of fresh goat meat

220kg of Gino cubes

600kg of her special jollof pepper mix
Na nine hours of serious fire, teamwork and 1,200kg of gas e take before she serve 16,600 plates of rice. As record rules talk, no single grain waste – everybody chop, nobody waka empty-handed.
Hilda talk say: “Na plenty hard work but di joy dey sweet. This achievement no be only my own – na for Nigeria people.”
For West Africa, “who get the best jollof” don dey hot debate for years. Ghana people dey always claim say na dem get the best jollof, Naija dey counter. Now with this record, many pipu dey ask: she don finally secure bragging rights for Nigeria?
So far, Guinness World Records no get holder for “largest Ghanaian style jollof rice,” so eyes dey watch if Ghana go reply.
This no be Hilda first waka inside Guinness book. In May 2023, she break world record for longest cooking marathon (93 hours, 11 minutes). That stunt scatter internet, draw thousands for Lekki, and even crash website as people dey monitor.
But since then, other chefs don snatch the crown – Alan Fisher from Ireland (119 hours, 57 minutes) and Evette Quoibia from Australia (140 hours, 11 minutes).
Still, Hilda name remain big for African culinary scene. And with this jollof stunt, she don ginger Naija pride again.
