Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, wey be presidential candidate for People's Democratic Party (PDP) during 2023 general election, don finally resign from the party.
Atiku send him resignation letter as e dey prepare for 2027 general election, and him also don confirm say he dey support formation of new coalition party wey dem call African Democratic Congress. The letter, wey get date Monday, July 14, 2025, na him Atiku address to the PDP chairman for Jada 1 ward, Jada Local Government Area for Adamawa State. One of him media aides, Abdul Rasheeth, post the letter for social media (X) on Wednesday. For the letter, Atiku talk say: “I dey write this letter to formally resign from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect. I wan use this opportunity thank the party well-well for all the chances and support wey una give me. To serve as Vice President for Nigeria two times and also run as presidential candidate two times, na one of the biggest chapters for my life. As one of the founding fathers of PDP, e pain me say I gats take this kind decision. But the truth be say the party don dey face plenty wahala wey no get solution, and e go affect our chance for next election.” Atiku still talk say the way PDP dey go now no follow the vision and values wey dem take start the party. “Na heavy heart I take resign, because the katakata for the party don too much and e no get head again. I wish the party and their leaders better future. Thank you again for the support,” he add. Meanwhile, earlier before the letter come out, Atiku media adviser, Paul Ibe, bin talk say all the tori say Atiku don leave PDP na lie and political propaganda. He say the former VP still dey committed to PDP that time. But now, e be like say the matter don confirm as true — Atiku don finally waka comot from PDP.
