Federal Government don approve welfare package for civil servants, wey include better allowances and ₦10 billion housing loan scheme wey go help improve how dem dey live and increase productivity for inside public service.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, announce the reforms on Friday during one press briefing for Abuja, as she talk say na part of bigger plan to make civil service strong well well.

According to her, government don approve big review of peculiar allowances wey affect workers under Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS) and Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS).

Di adjustments go make civil servants collect better salary across all grade levels.

She still add say key allowances like Duty Tour Allowance (DTA), estacode, and book allowance don increase.

Apart from salary benefits, government don still introduce new exit package for civil servants wey dey retire under contributory pension scheme.

The package go give retiree 100 percent of their total yearly emoluments join their pension, starting from January 1, 2026.

The reforms still include full take-off of Employee Compensation Scheme, wey go give workers financial protection if anything happen to dem for work like injury or death.

 

Housing Loan Scheme

For another development, Federal Government don approve ₦10 billion housing loan scheme to help civil servants get their own house.

Dem go run the scheme through Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board.

Walson-Jack talk say the housing scheme go help workers get stability and improve how dem dey perform for work, as e go make am easier for dem to secure permanent homes.

She describe all the measures together as part of government bigger plan for governance, as she emphasize say if workers dey well supported, e go help service delivery work better.

Head of Service still highlight ongoing efforts to modernise civil service, including plans to move go digital system wey no go need paper much and go dey more transparent.

She also mention say the reforms happen through collaboration between key government offices like Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Budget Office, and Office of the Accountant General.

The reforms come as cost of living dey rise and labour unions dey call for better welfare for workers, and analysts dey talk say the initiatives fit really boost morale and productivity for public sector.
