FG Declare Tuesday Public Holiday to Honour Late President Muhammadu Buhari

The Federal Government of Nigeria don declare Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as public holiday to honour the memory of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, wey die recently.

This announcement come as part of the seven days national mourning wey President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declare for the former leader. The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, make the official declaration on behalf of the government, after approval from President Tinubu.

According to statement wey the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, sign, the public holiday na to pay respect to Buhari's service to the country, especially his role for democracy, governance, and national development.

“President Muhammadu Buhari serve Nigeria with dedication, integrity and strong commitment to unity and progress. This public holiday go give Nigerians opportunity to reflect on him life, leadership and values,” the Minister talk.

He also urge Nigerians to use the day reflect and promote peace, patriotism, and unity, wey reflect the kind Nigeria wey Buhari believe in.

As part of the national mourning, flags across the country go fly at half mast from Sunday, July 13, till the end of the mourning period.

The government also extend condolences to Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina State and all Nigerians, and pray make him soul rest in peace.
