Ekiti Court Don Sentence Two Kidnappers to Death for NYSC Staff Kidnap

Ekiti State High Court don sentence two men, Ibrahim Abubakar and Abdullahi Abubakar, to death by hanging after dem find dem guilty of kidnapping one National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) staff, Omoboade Adesina.

The judgment come on Thursday for Court One, Fajuyi, Ado-Ekiti, as Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, rule say prosecution prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.

The case na about the kidnapping of Omoboade Adesina on April 22, 2022, for Ekiti State. Department of State Services (DSS) later arrest the suspects and carry the matter go court.

Justice Ogunmoye sentence Ibrahim and Abdullahi to death by hanging, but discharge the third defendant, Usman Abubakar, after the court say evidence no strong enough to connect am to the crime.

“The prosecution don prove the case beyond reasonable doubt,” the judge talk as e deliver judgment.

The Chief Judge also praise DSS lawyers and investigators for the way dem handle the case. According to am, the identification parade and analysis of phone call records help establish the involvement of the convicted kidnappers.

He say the evidence wey DSS present play major role in securing the conviction.

The judgment na another major victory for DSS in its fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.

Recently, courts for Sokoto and Kogi states also convict suspects arrested by DSS for terrorism-related offences, illegal arms activities and kidnapping.

Security officials say the latest conviction show say intelligence-led investigations dey produce results and send strong warning to criminals.

Dem add say government agencies remain committed to making sure kidnappers, terrorists and other violent offenders face the full punishment of the law.

The case don further reinforce efforts by security agencies to tackle kidnapping and improve public safety across Nigeria.
