Buratai Hail Buhari: “Na True Leader Wey Support Soldiers With All E Heart”

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retired), don describe late President Muhammadu Buhari as a firm, disciplined, and straightforward leader wey support the Nigerian Army fully during him time for office

According to Buratai, Buhari experience as former governor, GOC, Head of State under military rule, and Minister, help shape the kind leader wey he be when he later become civilian president.

“I see am as true leader, highly disciplined, always dey follow wetin dey happen. I thank God say I work under am as Chief of Army Staff from 2015 to 2021,” Buratai talk.

He say Buhari always give am full support, especially for all the military operations and decisions wey concern security, particularly for the Northeast.

“He trust my judgment. He no dey wait make soldiers complain before we give dem wetin dem need. Allowance and salary must drop on time or e go vex,” he add.

Buratai say the troops salary and allowances increase, and Buhari always approve equipment procurement fast-fast — like the Super Tucano aircraft wey Nigerian Air Force dey use now. Training, promotion and re-kitting of soldiers also get priority under Buhari leadership.

He list major military institutions wey spring up under Buhari administration, like:

  • Nigerian Army Resource Centre

  • Cyber Warfare Command

  • Land Forces Simulation Centre

Buratai also salute Buhari passion for military regimentation — say the former president no dey ever miss military functions or parades.

“We go always remember General Muhammadu Buhari — President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Na great loss we dey bear.”

As Katsina State prepare to receive Buhari body on Tuesday, Buratai say everywhere don calm, and the mood na one of deep mourning.

“The whole nation dey feel am. Not just Katsina. This loss touch everybody.”

He end by sending condolences to:

  • Aisha Buhari and the Buhari family

  • Emir of Daura

  • Governor of Katsina State

  • And President Bola Tinubu
