President Bola Ahmed Tinubu don officially reopen the newly renovated Abuja International Conference Centre (ICC) on Tuesday, for Abuja. Wetin surprise many pass na when FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, announce say dem don rename the Centre as Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre – to honour the President.
Tinubu, wey recall how the place be when e visit during 2024 ECOWAS Parliament conference, say the situation then really shock am.
"In 2024, when I come for ECOWAS Parliament conference, the place be like abandoned property — dirty, disorganised and no even fit host people. I tell Wike say, ‘This no be Nigeria standard.’ E reply me say make I calm down, say dem go fix am. Today, I dey very happy with wetin I dey see,” Tinubu talk.
He add say the Centre go now serve as symbol of Nigeria’s bigger dream to become main centre for African diplomacy, trade talks and global partnership.
The President also hail Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, the same company wey build the original Centre in 1991, for quality renovation wey match their standard.
Still under him Renewed Hope Agenda, Tinubu promise say infrastructure development for transport, health, education, energy and city planning go continue under him administration.
He salute Wike well-well for completing the renovation within one year and still encourage am make e no mind bad belle people.
“Ignore people wey no get work, continue your good job. You be real leader wey get vision and strong mind,” Tinubu tell Wike.
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, follow praise the effort. He happy say some halls inside the Centre now bear names of top officials like the Senate President, House Speaker, and Chief Justice of Nigeria. He say this show better cooperation dey between Executive, Legislative and Judiciary arms under Tinubu government.
Wike, while dey explain how the transformation happen, say na only eight months dem use take complete the job after Tinubu give directive.
“Mr President, if no be your boldness and direction, this kind change no go fit happen. Other presidents see this place but nobody talk say e no reach Nigeria standard,” Wike talk.
He also warn say nobody go use the place for free again.
“Whether na government or private person, everybody must pay something before una go use this place. No more ‘na my guy’ or ‘my sister wan do wedding’ story. Na only through that way we fit keep this place clean and proper,” Wike add.
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre na one of many capital projects wey President Tinubu go commission to mark him second year for office. All na under the leadership of Barrister Nyesom Wike as FCT Minister.
