No More ‘Highness’: FG Order Compulsory Drug Test for All Secondary School Students.

The Federal Government don drop heavy "marching order" today, May 11, 2026. From now on, any pikin wey wan enter Secondary School for Nigeria must do "Drug Integrity Test" before dem give am admission.

This new law dey inside the "National Implementation Guidelines Against Drug and Substance Use in Schools." The government talk say dem work join body with NDLEA to make sure say our schools dey safe and the students’ brains dey sharp.

The government say the test no be only for new students o. Check the levels:

  • Point of Entry: You must do am before you start JSS1 or enter new school.

  • Once a Year: Every student go do at least one test every session.

  • "Surprise" Test: Schools get power to do impromptu test anytime dem feel say something "fishy" dey happen.

If pikin test positive, the government say dem no go just pursue am for school one-time. Dem get three stages to help the pikin:

  • Stage 1 (First Time): The student go go for counseling and treatment.

  • Stage 2 (Second Time): If the pikin still dey do am, dem go carry am go proper rehabilitation center.

  • Stage 3 (Third Time): If the matter pass "be careful," that na when the school fit give the student temporary suspension.

The Ministry of Education talk say drug abuse among secondary school students don dey too much. E dey affect their studies, their character, and e dey cause wahala for school. Dem want make sure say dem catch the matter from the root before the pikin enter University.
