NERC Promise 4 Million Meters To Electricity Consumers

Di Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC),tok say e go soon provide four million prepaid meters to electricity consumers for di country.

Aisha Mahmud, NERC Commissioner wey dey in charge of Consumers Affairs, tok dis mata for di Customers' Complaints Resolution Meeting wey happen on Tuesday for Jos.

Mahmud tok say dis mata of meter wey never reach everywere for naija, na im be one of di biggest problems wey di join body dey face, she  tok say e go soon end.

She tok say dem don dey arrange di mata to make sure say dem provide meters through di National Mass Metering Programme(NMP) of di Fedral Government.

"True true na metering be one of di biggest problem wey we dey face for di past years for dis commission".

"E no funny at all bin say plenty money don enta di power sector".

"Dem tok say for Nigeria , electricity generation don start for Lagos since 1826 with 20 megawatts. 126 years don pass, we still dey tok about small small tins like metering, wey be stage wey we suppose don pass".

Mahmud wey tok say all di preparations don complete for dis metering programme, she still tok say moni for di  waka go pass di Central Bank o fNigeria (CBN)

"All dis meters go reach di consumers  tru di distribution join bodi and dis one go show say di regulator no just siddon but dey work to make sure say evri Nigerian fit get di meters ".

"So, we go do evritin as regulators to make sure say dis mata of metering go be mata of di past. i believe say with di plans wey don dey, we go soon overcome", na so she take tok.

Mahmud still tok say na inflation,exchange rate, gas moni and oda economic mata na im make light moni cost.

She still explain say "Inflation don go up reach double, exchange rate even di official rate don high well well.Operators dey buy most of their machine for abroad fo their exchange rate, di cost of labour sef don go up and oda tins na follow make light moni cost".

For di meeting with di customers, Mahmud tok say di commission dey Jos to teach di customers about dia rights and to still hear their complain so dem go fit treat am on di spot.

Mr Abud Mohammed , di Managing Director,Jos Electricity Distribution(JED), tok say di mata wey di customers don tok for di meeting, dem go address dem sharp sharp.

From metering, billing, quality of di light, staff complain follow for di matas wey dem raise for di meeting.

"I wan promise say all dis mata dem we go look am sarp sharp and for di mata of metering, we dey on track".

"E neva tey wen we buy 12,000 meters and dem don dey our store. We still dey expect 305,000 meters for the NMP phase one wey dey come and ova 100,000 from world Bank Intervention".

"So very soon, you go see all di states and our customers go get meter", Mohammed tok dis one.
