Lagos State Government don introduce “no light, no pay” policy as part of new effort to improve electricity supply for important public places.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu talk this one on Sunday when him announce say dem don sign three power purchase agreements for Lagos House, Marina.

According to the governor, the agreements na to make existing power stronger and solve the constant problem of electricity supply gap across the state.

Under the new arrangement, dem don give specific power companies different areas and infrastructure to handle.

Fenchurch Power go supply electricity to big water facilities for Adiyan and Iju, while Mainland Power go continue to serve Ikeja, Oshodi, and Anthony, and dem get plan to expand reach.

Viathan go maintain power supply for important facilities on Lagos Island and also work to better connect with the distribution network.

Sanwo-Olu explain say dem don adjust the agreements to match how things be now for the power sector, with payment system wey go focus on accountability and efficiency.

Him stress say the state no go pay again for electricity wey no dey supplied, adding say payment now go depend strictly on actual light wey dem supply and meter.

The governor add say this move go help make power supply more reliable for public infrastructure, reduce wasteful spending, and create clearer path to expand electricity capacity for the coming years.
