FG Don Open Over ₦43bn CCTV Centre For Third Mainland Bridge To Improve Security

Federal Government don open over ₦43 billion CCTV centre for Third Mainland Bridge for Lagos to make security strong and monitor traffic.

The Federal Government don commission the CCTV centre during inspection of federal roads and bridges for Lagos by Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.

The centre dey to help law enforcement agencies control traffic and make bridge safer, especially as Third Mainland Bridge na one of Nigeria busiest transport routes.

For the event, Minister Umahi explain how the CCTV centre go work, say, “Police go set speed limits and make sure everybody sabi dem.

We dey hand over two vehicles and one surveillance boat to them as part of the project.”

Umahi talk about “lay-by” extension wey dey the bridge, wey police go fit monitor traffic and act fast when people break law, without blocking road.

“If any vehicle break law or dey overspeed, officers go stop dem for the lay-by to avoid traffic jam and take action,” he talk.

The minister say this project follow President Bola Tinubu directive to protect federal roads for all Nigeria.

“This one na small example of wetin we wan do for all federal highways. We dey build roads wey go last 50 to 100 years,” Umahi add.

Umahi also talk about ongoing work for bridge extensions and road improvements for Lagos, including Tomeland and Qatar Bridges.

He mention wahala like old bridges, poor maintenance, and engineering challenges wey government dey fix with rehabilitation and replacement projects.

About Qatar Bridge, Umahi warn say part of am don spoil under water, say, “We dey do all the necessary repairs and dey pray say the bridge go hold till we fit replace am, wey go happen in three years.”

He assure say safety na priority, with heavy trucks restricted and all bridges for Lagos and Nigeria dey closely monitored.

Government don set up expert committees to check bridges and arrange money for urgent repairs.

The minister also announce new road construction rules, like say pavers and concrete must dey used for road shoulders to make roads strong and reduce frequent repairs.

Finally, Umahi call on public to support and patient, and stress say these road projects go help economy and government dey serious to improve Nigeria transport infrastructure.
